通常，大腿內側上方會出現發癢的紅色凸起皮疹，邊緣呈鱗狀彎曲。它常與香港腳、指甲真菌感染、過度出汗以及共用受感染的毛巾或運動服有關。此病在兒童中並不常見。
其外觀可能類似於皮膚皺褶中出現的其他皮疹，如念珠菌擦爛、紅癬、反牛皮癬和脂漏性皮膚炎。
治療以局部抗真菌藥物為主，對於近期出現的症狀特別有效。預防復發的措施包括治療伴隨的真菌感染，並採取避免潮濕的做法，例如保持腹股溝區域乾燥。
